The soundsleep mattress has been tested for heavy duty usage. With many different choices on the market, something has to set apart the quality from the cheaply built. Having a portable air mattress has become a wonderful luxury to have for many different reasons. I’m sure most people have slept on one some time or another. And for some, it is their actual bed. But why else is this air mattress better than the rest? If you have spent a night or more on one, then you may know what I am talking about.

I have spent my fair share of nights sleeping on an average inflatable air mattress. And though I was thankful to have it compared to sleeping on the hard ground, there were a few things that did make it a little uncomfortable.

 Problems and Solutions:

First and foremost, no matter how well it seemed to be sealed, I always woke up on a mattress that was inflated about half as much as when I went to bed. My back would always end up touching the ground while the rest of the bed was inflated all around me. I am not a heavy guy by any means. So my weight was not the issue. Most inflatable air mattresses slowly seep air out of the valves or seams throughout the night. Making the bed increasingly more uncomfortable throughout the night as well.

The second problem you will usually run into is with the edges of the bed. Since the bed does not have it’s usual springs or coils giving it structure, if you move your body out of the center of the bed to one side or the other, you undoubtedly will roll off of the bed at one point in the night. So if you are not someone who lays perfectly still at night, things could go bad.

The third reason your average air mattress can be tough to sleep on is when you sleep with more than just yourself on it. It is like laying next to someone on a trampoline. Every movement they make, makes you bounce up and down, up and down. And like the second problem I mentioned, if you do not have your weights compatible with each other, then one person is going to have a hard time staying on the bed. And the other one of you will forever be rolling over on top of the other one. Kind of funny to think about, but not when it is you in the bed rolling over onto your partner. And I am sure it is not fun being the partner getting someone that is constantly crowding them.

All of that is what soundasleep took into consideration when designing their most comfortable air mattress. The raised “double-height” air bed with dual chamber construction along with the extra thick waterproof flocked top, have made the slow leaking of air throughout the night a problem long gone. That by itself is what got me to make the best purchase of the summer for us. I have slept on this air mattress many times when camping, and have never woken up with my back touching the ground and an inflated bed all around me.

Now let’s fix that second problem. The ComfortCoil technology has given the sturdiness to the bed that they usually lack to prevent you from collapsing a side and rolling off the mattress in the middle of the night. All I can say is “Thank You”.

Now I am not going to tell you that you can bounce a bowling ball on the mattress right next to your partner and they won’t feel it. Because, let’s face it, this is an air mattress, not a memory foam full bed with box springs. However, because of the extra thick rubber material and ComfortCoils, the motion of one person is greatly dampened to an acceptable level. A level to where you can actually sleep and not be woken countless time in the night.

You don’t have to just believe me. Watch this video review of the best air mattress on the market, in use, by someone else.

Uses:

Having a spare bed in the house can be extremely useful. When guests come over, you want to be a good host and give them a great stay while they are with you. The soundasleep dream series air mattress will do that. You always want to impress the inlaws. Giving them a relaxing and comfortable night sleep will be a welcomed surprise if they were expecting to sleep on one of those pull out couches with that metal bar stuck in their back all night. It is always good to bank those brownie points. Same thing with out of town friends. And when they are all gone, you can deflate, roll up, stuff in a sack, and put the portable air mattress away out of site, without taking up any needed room in the garage or closet.

My favorite use is for camping. I am a very big outdoorsman. I spend most of my summers in the mountains either fishing, hiking, or hunting. And after a long strenuous day hiking up and down mountain sides, it is a very relaxing treat to come back to camp and lay on my comfortable air mattress. If I didn’t have an air mattress when I went camping, I would not have the energy I do each morning to get up and go again. A good night sleep is one of the most important things to an outdoorsman. You need the rest.

We always take our inflatable air mattress to hotels when we stay out of town as well. My wife and I have 3 kids. They are still too young to give them their own room. So we always get a room with 2 queen sized beds. But if you know anything about how kids sleep, it is not quiet and peacefully. So mom and dad have to have their own bed. And three kids in one queen or even king sized bed is a recipe for disaster. Sure, hotels have fold up beds that they can bring you. But they are not nearly as comfortable as our air mattress. It has a small travel bag that is packs into, so it is no extra trouble to throw it into or on one of the suitcases and bring it with us.
